System Administrator

Quantum Tech Staffing is seeking a Systems Administrator for a contract position in Richmond, VA

Perform System Administrator duties to include: Technical solution delivery, application deployment and operations, and network and infrastructure services

Years of Experience: 8 or more years of experience in the field

Roles and Responsibilities:

o Daily operations to include technical solution delivery, application deployment, application operations, and networking infrastructure operations.
o Serve as liaison between VA State Agencies for infrastructure support activities, outages, issues and escalation for day to day server outages communicating statuses to affected areas.
o Create technical work request documents for submittal while collaborating with Enterprise Architects and DBAs to develop new solutions. Implement WRs, request firewall rules, DNS changes, URLs and load balancing configurations.
o Participate in the annual DR test and internal backup recovery processes and procedures.
o Respond to audit requests and business user inquiries.
o Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of complicated tasks, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Required Skills:
o Must be proficient at the techniques that go into the formulation of architectures, including requirements discovery and analysis, application of abstraction, formulation of solution context, solution alternatives identification and assessment, technology selection, and architectural configuration.
o Extensive understanding and experience in technology areas for Mainframe and Distributed platforms, networking, databases, High Availability/Disaster Recovery, and IT security.
o Ability to work closely with client/application architects, senior managers, and project managers to design and assist with the implementation of the solutions infrastructure related components.
o Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete assigned project responsibilities under limited supervision.
o Experience and skills in prevailing industry architecture and engineering methodologies such as ITIL.
o Knowledge of and experience with a broad range of application servers, web servers, messaging servers, database servers, and related technologies.
o Able to analyze business requirements and define solutions to address complex business needs.
o Experience in web infrastructure design and operations including IP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, load balancing, clustering, failover, monitoring, diagnostics, performance tuning, etc.
o Possess high aptitude for problem-solving and trouble-shooting.

Specific Requirements:
o Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 Administration, Active Directory, Domain Services – 5 years
o Change management & ITIL – 5 years
o Familiarity with DNS, SMTP, load balancing, caching and intrusion detection – 5 years
o RHEL Server Administration – 5 y ears
o MS SQL 2008 Experience – 5 years
o VMWare – 5 years
o Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills – 5 years
o Experience on multi-tier domain environments, virtualization, clustered servers, high availability, SAN/NAS etc – 5 years
o Familiarity with .NET code, SharePoint 2010, SQL 2008, BizTalk – 5 years
o Understanding of Firewall rules, submittal, testing and tracking – 5 years
o Citrix XenApp Experience – 2 years
