Windows System Administrator

Quantum Tech Staffing is seeking a Windows System Administrator for a contract position in Northern, VA.

Roles and Responsibilities:

o Oversee computer systems, including the operating system, servers and application software used.
o Provide server support for staff to manage and support user accounts and access to network resources; install, support, and maintain servers; plan for and respond to service outages and other problems; manage and monitor drive space; provide high-level training and technical assistance to other staff, technicians and analysts; develop and document comprehensive policies and procedures and maintain activity logs and statistics
o Installing, configuring, upgrading and repairing hardware, operating systems and software.
o Configure user groups and security measures in Active Directory, ensure network connectivity and implement security policies. In addition to fixing technical problems directly, you may also provide assistance to users, like executives and employees.
o Monitoring service performance is another typical job duty, you will use gathered data to determine suggested upgrades that can improve performance and reliability as well as predicting and planning for growth.
o The disaster recovery process of backing up data for restoration is also critical, as is restoring systems that experience data loss or corruption.
o Provides reports pertaining to system changes, auditing and security policies.

A Bachelors degrees in computer science, computer engineering or another related major is preferred; however, an Associates degree or certificate coupled with experience in the IT field may be substituted. Additionally, you will need to maintain your skills as new Windows Server products are released and technologies evolve.

You will need an understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, networking and software for your daily job duties. Maintaining systems run on Windows Server will also require expertise in Active Directory, systems design and scripting, including PowerShell. Required Skills:

o At least eight years of experience working with Windows Server 2003/2008 and Active Directory.
o A technology Bachelors degree, and the company prefers applicants with Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification.
o The candidate should also have experience in systems design and patch management.
o Veritas NetBackup 7
o Application of OS updates, patches, and configuration changes
o Installing and configuring new hardware and software
o Plan for and respond to service outages and other problems, typically off hours and on weekends
o Setup and manage print clusters and queues
o Setup, change and delete user accounts
o Security setup
o Manage user disk space
o Experience with Windows 7
o Experience with IIS
o Experience with AD
o Experience with MS Exchange
o Experience with Server Clustering
o Experience managing remote application software
o Experience in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS
o Experience with Firewalls
o Performance of system and software audits
o Performance of backups
o Documentation of system configuration
o Expertise in other Windows technologies, such as Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SQL are pluses. Other important skills include proficiency in the Linux operating system, VMware ESX Server and version control systems.
